Why Valuing Diversity is Important to Your Business
with Pauline Crameri, Val's LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care
This session will outline key social, quality and business benefits of keeping diversity in the spotlight. It aims to enhance your service planning and delivery by exploring:
Supporting diversity in a time of change – why it’s more important than ever
When we’re talking about diversity – what and who do we mean?
The delivery of high-quality care and the one-size-fits-all approach
Key benefits of keeping diversity in the spotlight
Planning, actions and achievements
Who and what’s available to help.
Intersectionality in Aged Care
with Budi Sudarto, Ananda Training & Consulting
In this session, Budi will unpack the concept of intersectionality and how it relates to the Aged Care Diversity Framework. The session will guide participants to think beyond diversity and start using an intersectional lens to provide safe, respectful, inclusive services.
The emphasis of the session is on practical applications and solutions to barriers faced by aged care providers.
Elder Care Support program
with Josh Hercus, Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-operative
This session features the Elder Care Support program and explores how better access and navigation can be achieved for First Nations Elders.
The Department of Health and Aged Care has partnered with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) to establish the Elder Care Support program. The program will build a workforce to help older First Nations people, their families and carers to access aged care services to meet their physical and cultural needs.
Diversity & the Reforms
Towards Specialisation – a Specialisation Verification Framework Toolkit
with Lisa Dean, Eastern Sector Development Team
This session connects you with invaluable resources that will assist you in understanding the Specialisation Verification Framework and applying for verification.
The Specialisation Verification Framework helps you demonstrate to older people that your organisation delivers inclusive services for people who identify with one or more of the special needs groups listed in the Aged Care Act 1997.
These groups include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people who identify as LGBTI and people from rural and remote communities.
The Framework supports you to develop your inclusive services and communicate them to older people.
Verification will be necessary when you’re ready to promote your services on My Aged Care as the best fit for people who identify with special needs groups.
This verification could be the difference between why an older person, their family and carers choose your service over another provider.
Achieving Specialisation Verification
with Philippa Calwell from Mount Alexander Shire Council and Pauline Crameri, Val's LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care
In this session, Philippa and Pauline will discuss Mount Alexander Shire Council’s experience applying for Specialisation Verification. Expect realistic and practical advice.
Applying a Wellness & Diversity Lens to the Aged Care Standards
with Dale Park, Diversity Training and Consulting
This session will support you to better understand the importance of applying a wellness and diversity lens to the new strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
Using a strengths-based approach, you will consider what your organisation needs to enhance to deliver inclusive, person-centred services and meet the requirements of the strengthened Quality Standards.
We will use new resources that highlight good diversity and wellness practice aligned to the requirements of the Quality Standards.
This practical session is a great opportunity for CHSP-funded providers to reflect on their current practice, what’s working well and what they can improve.
